Ibadan Pastor Agbala Gabriel Faces Explosive Allegations Over Twins, Charity Funds

Popular Ibadan-based cleric Kayode Amusan, widely known as Agbala Gabriel, is facing intense public scrutiny following allegations that he fathered a set of twins with a former church singer and initially denied responsibility, while also being questioned over the handling of charity donations linked to his ministry.
The cleric, who rose to prominence on social media for mobilising support for sick and vulnerable Nigerians, has built a reputation around his grassroots humanitarian work, including fundraising campaigns for patients, struggling entertainers, and impoverished families across Ibadan and Lagos.
However, his reputation is now under threat after multiple allegations emerged online. A blogger claimed during a livestream that the pastor had a relationship with a backup singer in his ministry, identified as Bolu, which reportedly resulted in the birth of twins. According to the claim, the pastor initially denied responsibility but later acknowledged the children and reportedly rented accommodation for Bolu and the twins.
The allegation was echoed by charity advocate Princess Adeyinka, who said she personally intervened when the matter first surfaced.
“Agbala Gabriel impregnated Bolu and refused to take full responsibility initially. I went to him myself to beg him to take responsibility when I first heard about it. He denied it at first but later accepted responsibility,” she said.
While the paternity allegations were gaining traction online, questions about the management of funds raised for the sick also resurfaced.
Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola said she had spearheaded fundraising for a woman suffering from a spinal condition, identified as Morenikeji, before the patient’s family sought assistance from the cleric.
Daramola said she stepped aside after the family moved the woman to Ibadan, but the daughter, Ronke, later claimed the expected support did not materialise. She alleged that the cleric promised to build accommodation and provide medical care but failed to deliver, forcing the family to return to Lagos for help.
Further investigative scrutiny shows that some charity campaigns linked to Agbala Gabriel reportedly raised over N240 million in the last two years. While some beneficiaries confirmed receiving help, others claimed that funds meant for them were never disbursed, sparking concerns about accountability in online charity appeals. Social media posts from former beneficiaries have also raised questions about inconsistent reporting of funds and delays in assistance.
The growing controversy has divided Nigerians online. Supporters argue that the cleric has positively impacted many lives through his charity campaigns and that the allegations are part of a smear campaign. Critics, however, say the twin scandal and the charity irregularities highlight the need for transparency and accountability in religious fundraising and online donation campaigns.
Responding to the allegations, Agbala Gabriel denied any wrongdoing and dismissed the claims as attempts to discredit him.
“This is how they try to bring ministers of God down,” he said.
“All ministers who become famous face these kinds of lies. We see men of God like Enoch Adeboye and other well-known pastors being dragged on social media every day.”
Despite his denial, the controversy continues to dominate online discussions, with many Nigerians demanding clarity over both the paternity claims and the alleged mismanagement of donations.
For now, the pastor who built his image around charity and compassion finds himself at the centre of a scandal that is reshaping public perception of his ministry and influence.
