Garba Shehu: Reps shouldn’t have summoned Buhari

Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, has kicked against the decision of the house of representatives to summon President Muhammadu Buhari.

On Thursday, the lower chamber of the national assembly asked Buhari to appear before it over the high rate of insecurity in the country.

That would be the second time of summoning the president within a month.

Speaking in an interview with Arise TV on Monday, Shehu said he was of the opinion that Buhari should not honour the invitation.

“Well, if the president will go or not, you obviously know that he will not sit on the table and ask Garba and say what is my view on this?” Shehu said.

“The likely person will be his attorney-general or his special assistant on matters of the national assembly.

“If you want my personal opinion, I would say that that shouldn’t happen.”

Kidnapping and banditry have taken a rise across the country.

The father-in-law to Buhari’s aide-de-camp (ADC) was kidnapped while the president was in London.
