The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer, SRC Lasisi Funmilayo Oluwamayokun, and her young daughter, Sewa, has taken a devastating turn as their remains were recovered in a suspected ritual killing in Osun State.

Lasisi, a 39-year-old staff of the FRSC RS2.2 Ogun Sector Command in Abeokuta, was declared missing on Sunday, November 2, 2025, after she left her residence at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, with her daughter and never returned. Efforts by family and colleagues to reach her proved futile, prompting a formal complaint to the Kemta Divisional Police Headquarters on November 5.

The case, which sparked widespread concern across Ogun State, assumed a darker dimension over the weekend when police operatives in Osun State recovered dismembered human remains believed to be those of the FRSC officer. The remains—including a mutilated body found without the head—were discovered inside the residence of a suspected herbalist in an unnamed community in Osun State.

Herbalist Arrested; Wife Detained; Prime Suspects on the Run

According to official reports, operatives first arrested the herbalist’s wife at their residence while the primary suspect fled. A manhunt was subsequently launched across Osun communities.

Fresh intelligence, however, led to the tracking and apprehension of the herbalist in Iloko Ijesa, Osun State. During interrogation, the herbalist reportedly confessed that he had received SRC Lasisi and one Mr. Victor, said to be a close friend of the deceased officer, who brought her to his shrine. He further claimed that Mr. Victor and his friends killed the FRSC officer and dismembered her body for ritual purposes.

Police sources disclosed that the officer’s remains were later found stuffed in a sack and dumped in a river. Her daughter, whom the herbalist admitted had been staying with him “for several days,” was subsequently taken away by the same suspects. Authorities fear she may also have been killed, though her body has not yet been located.

The herbalist insists he did not participate in the killings, though investigators say his role remains a major focus of ongoing interrogations.

In an official update issued by the FRSC RS11.1 Osun Sector Command, the Sector Commander, CC Leye Adegboyega fsi, confirmed that the agency’s leadership had visited the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, over the disturbing reports circulating on social media.

The Commissioner confirmed the arrest of the herbalist and provided a detailed briefing through the Officer in Charge of Kidnapping.

Phone tracking and call-log analysis reportedly revealed that Mr. Victor, who has also been declared missing since November 2 by his own family, was in repeated contact with the herbalist in the days surrounding the disappearance of the FRSC officer. Police describe Victor as the key suspect and mastermind behind the crime.

The dismembered body recovered in Osun has been deposited at the Osun State Teaching Hospital, Osogbo, since November 17, 2025, pending further forensic procedures.

Police say DNA analysis and an autopsy will be conducted to establish conclusive identification and gather more evidence, especially as the body was found without the head.

Investigators add that the completion of forensic tests will follow the arrest of Mr. Victor and other fleeing accomplices, whose identities are being kept confidential for operational reasons.

The brutal murders have sent shockwaves through Abeokuta, the FRSC community, and the victims’ neighbourhood at Obasanjo Hilltop Estate, where residents remain distraught over the tragic turn of events.

Colleagues described SRC Lasisi as a hardworking officer and loving mother whose life was cut short in unimaginable circumstances.

Authorities in Osun and Ogun States have vowed to ensure that every individual connected to the killings is apprehended and brought to justice.

Police are urging members of the public with credible information on the whereabouts of Mr. Victor or his alleged accomplices to contact the nearest police formation.
