Prominent core members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), one of the legacy parties that formed the All Progressives Congress (APC), have reaffirmed their unwavering loyalty to the ruling party and expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.

In a joint statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, the former CPC stakeholders debunked recent claims suggesting internal disaffection or defection among their ranks, describing such reports as “mischievous and misleading.”

Led by former Nasarawa State Governor and senator, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, and co-signed by Mr. Osita Okechukwu, the group emphasized that they remain fully committed to the ideals and leadership of the APC.

“We wish to state categorically that we have neither left the APC nor do we intend to leave,” the statement read. “The CPC bloc remains one of the legacy foundations of the APC, and we are resolute in our commitment to the party and its progressive ideals.”

The group also reiterated their support for the economic and governance reforms being implemented by President Tinubu, acknowledging the challenges while calling for collective patience and understanding.

“These policies, though demanding, are crucial to rebuilding our economy and ensuring a better future for all Nigerians,” the statement noted. “We align ourselves fully with the administration’s vision and urge Nigerians to give it the support it needs.”

While recognizing that some party members may feel marginalized, the CPC members urged aggrieved individuals to seek redress through the party’s internal mechanisms rather than through public agitation or defection.

“At this critical juncture in Nigeria’s democracy, we must all work together to preserve the APC’s legacy and consolidate our democratic gains. Unity within the party is essential to national stability,” they stated.

The statement concluded with a call to the APC leadership to enhance engagement with members at all levels, stressing the importance of communication in promoting inclusiveness and party cohesion.

Among the signatories were former governors, lawmakers, ministers, and political leaders including Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, Mallam Adamu Adamu, Senator Ibrahim Musa, and Chief Okoi Obono-Obla, among others.

They pledged continued support for the APC and President Tinubu’s administration, affirming their resolve to contribute meaningfully to the party’s growth and Nigeria’s progress.

“Long Live President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Long Live the APC. Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement concluded.
