Five Arraigned Over 2022 Owo Church Bombing That Killed 40 Worshippers

The Federal Government has arraigned Idris Omeiza, Al-Qasim Idris, Jamiu Abdulmalik, Abdulhaleem Idris, and Momoh Abubakar over the June 5, 2022 bombing of Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State.
The five defendants were brought before Justice Obiorah Egwatu of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on nine counts bordering on terrorism, according to Channels TV.
Their court appearance comes three years after the then Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, announced the arrest of those behind the attack.
The National Security Council had linked the assault to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).
Over 40 worshippers were killed and dozens injured when armed men stormed the church during Sunday mass, opening fire on the congregation.
