Fire Guts Yinka Ayefele’s Music House in Ibadan
A fire on Friday evening gutted part of Yinka Ayefele’s Music House in Ibadan, Oyo State, home to Fresh FM, Blast FM, and the Merry Makers’ Band.
The fire, which reportedly started around 7:30 pm, caused panic among residents and fans as thick smoke rose from the multi-purpose complex located along Challenge–Ring Road.
Men of the Oyo State Fire Service were immediately deployed to the scene and battled to put out the flames. As at press time, the extent of the damage could not be ascertained, but sources confirmed that parts of the building were affected.
Eyewitnesses said valuables and broadcast equipment might have been destroyed, although no casualty was recorded.
The Music House, built by gospel singer and broadcaster Yinka Ayefele, is a popular media and entertainment hub in Ibadan. It houses Fresh FM, Blast FM, a recording studio, and offices for Ayefele’s musical outfit.
Authorities are yet to disclose the cause of the fire, while fans and staff await further updates from the management.
