FG Begins Payment Of 5 Months Wage Award Arrears

In a significant move aimed at promoting the welfare of Nigerian workers, the Federal Government on Monday announced plans to pay the outstanding five months’ arrears of the N35,000 wage award to federal employees.
According to a statement from the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF), while the government had previously disbursed five months’ worth of the wage award in instalments, a balance remains, which will now be settled.
The outstanding arrears will be paid in instalments of N35,000 per month over a period of five months.
The OAGF confirmed that the first instalment of the arrears will be paid after the April 2025 salary. This payment is a direct demonstration of the Federal Government’s commitment to honoring all agreements and policies related to workers’ remuneration and welfare, thereby promoting greater productivity and efficiency within the public service.
Importantly, this initiative is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes the welfare and economic empowerment of Nigerian workers.
The administration remains steadfast in its dedication to improving the living standards of all citizens, ensuring that no worker is left behind in the journey towards a more prosperous Nigeria.
