Federal Government Pledges Support for Agricultural Institutions

The Federal government  has renewed it’s commitments to boost the agricultural institutions in the country to ensure efficiency that will produce quality manpower to enhance food security and healthy animals.
This was  contained in the speech of the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and  Rural Development, Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakihe, who was represented by the Oyo State coordinator Dr. Kakulu Florence Omonele during the commissioning and handover of the Primary Animal Health Centre at the Federal College of Animal Health and  Production Technology, MOOR Plantation, Ibadan, Oyo State.
While urging the management of  the institution to ensure good use of the multi million naira edifice, the Omonele also urged the students of the institution to utilise the opportunity they have by competing favourably well with their counterparts in the  field of agriculture.
“Dear beneficiaries, sustainability of this infrastructural facility should be collective efforts by ensuring that proper management is upheld. I strongly state that FMARD is supporting and will continue to support Federal Colleges of Animal Health and Production Technology in Nigeria,” he said.
He disclosed that the handover will enhance proper management and utilisation and to ensure sustainability of facility while urging the management to to put in place a proper management with proper documentation.
In his welcome address, the provost of the college, Dr. Adekoya Owosibo reiterated the commitment of the staff of the college to further improve in producing good students that will compete favourably with their colleagues from other institutions of learning.
He added that the newly commissioned primary animal health centre will also benefit their immediate community and  the state at large in the prevention of diseases and that it will help the students and their lecturers to carry out good and accurate  research.
“I want to assure you that the college will make good use of  the centre, which according to him, is the first place to diagnose diseases and prevent them before it become an outbreak,” he said.
The epoch making event was attended by the college’s management staff,  union leaders as well  as teaching and non-teaching staff of the college.
