Family Crisis Deepens: Husband Says In-Laws Rushed Illegal Burial After False Murder Claim

Dr. David Love, husband of the late Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Trade and Export, Mrs. Shimite Bello Love, has alleged that his in-laws conspired to illegally bury his wife after falsely accusing him of murdering her.

Speaking in an emotional interview on Saturday night, Dr. Love said the ordeal began shortly after the sudden death of his wife, a prominent figure in Delta’s economic and trade sector. He explained that rather than conducting a transparent process, certain family members and associates rushed to frame him as a suspect in her death.

According to him, autopsy reports have now cleared him of any wrongdoing.

“They wrongfully claimed I killed my wife. They pushed that narrative without evidence. But the autopsy has vindicated me. The report shows clearly that my wife died of natural causes, not foul play,” he said.

Dr. Love further alleged that in addition to defaming him, his in-laws took the controversial step of burying his wife without his consent and against established cultural and legal norms.

“They went ahead to bury her illegally. As her husband, I had the right to be part of that process, but they sidelined me deliberately to cover up their false accusations,” he lamented.

He insisted that the illegal burial was an attempt to shut him out and cement the perception that he was guilty.

Mrs. Shimite Love, widely respected for her work in trade facilitation and women’s empowerment, passed away under sudden and unclear circumstances earlier this year, sparking speculation and tension between her marital and extended families.

While Dr. Love is now calling for justice and the protection of his name, he emphasized that his priority remains ensuring that the truth about his wife’s death is known.

“This is not just about me; it is about her memory. My wife was a good woman who dedicated her life to service. She deserves dignity in death, not lies and illegal actions,” he said.

Legal experts say Dr. Love may have grounds to challenge the alleged illegal burial in court and to seek redress for defamation.

As of press time, neither the Delta State Government nor the family of the deceased had issued an official response to his claims.
