Ex-AGF, Abubakar Malami, Invited For Interrogation By EFCC

Abubakar Malami, former Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), has said that he has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Malami said he will honour the invitation as a law-abiding citizen.
He disclosed this in a brief statement posted on his Facebook page, noting that his decision to honour the invitation underscores his commitment to accountability and transparency in public service.
“I hereby reaffirm my commitment to honour the invitation,” he said.
“I understand the spirit of accountability and transparency in public service — the principles that I both advocate and champion.”
Malami added that he would keep Nigerians informed as events unfold, stressing that he remains committed to openness in matters concerning public trust.
On September 1, Malami’s convoy was attacked by suspected political thugs in Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Kebbi state.
On September 10, Malami petitioned the national security adviser (NSA), the inspector-general of police (IGP), the director-general of the DSS, and the comptroller-generals of immigration and civil defence corps over an alleged plot to destabilise Kebbi state through the importation of political thugs.
On September 22, Malami was invited by the DSS over the attack.
On November 17, he declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Kebbi state.
Malami resigned from the APC in July and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He said the decision followed “wide consultations and deep personal reflection”, adding that he left the ruling party out of “love for our nation and concern for the hardship our people are facing”.
