Encomiums As Afolabi Afuape Empowers Residents Of Abeokuta South Federal Constituency
Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in Ogun State was agog on Saturday, when Hon. Afolabi Afuape, the representative of the area in the House of Representatives, returned to his people to empower them with cash and various tools for businesses.
The talk-of- the town empowerment programme, held at Ake Palace Pavilion, witnessed a large turn out of residents of the area as well as leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from the 15 wards in the area.
The empowerment programme, which was described as unique and first of its kind, included the distribution of cash of 100 thousand naira (N100,000) each to over 500 beneficiaries, while others went home with POS machines, cosmetics boxes, deep freezers, motor cycles, grinding machines, tricycles, motor bikes and other items, which cost him millions of naira.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Afuape described the occasion as dream come true based on his campaign promises.
“I promised to share the dividends of democracy to you if you give me your votes, which you did. Here I am to fulfil my own side of the agreement,” he said.
Speaking further, the lawmaker said that he is not in Abuja to sponsor bills alone, but to facilitate whatever will benefit and promote the welfare of the people of his constituency.
