Ekiti State recorded a resounding success and gained continental acclaim at the 68th UNTourism Commission for Africa (CAF) Meeting held in Abuja, affirming its rising status as a key tourism destination in Nigeria. With delegates from 38 countries in attendance, Ekiti’s compelling showcase of its tourism assets captivated international stakeholders — a feat made possible through the unwavering support and visionary leadership of His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

Leading the state’s delegation was Amb. Wale Ojo-Lanre, Esq., Director General of the Ekiti State Bureau of Tourism Development. The delegation strategically engaged with participants, distributing curated information packs including detailed fliers on Ekiti’s diverse tourism attractions and the “Invest in Ekiti” publication by the Ekiti Development and Investment Promotion Agency (EKDIPA) — materials that generated keen interest from delegates across the continent.

A major highlight of the conference came with the commendation by the Vice President of Nigeria, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the event. He lauded Ekiti State’s proactive and sustained efforts in tourism development. In a symbolic gesture of support, the Vice President shared a photo of the Director General donning a “Visit Ekiti” cap on his official social media platforms, giving the state a powerful visibility boost.

One of the key topics that dominated discussions was the strategic concessioning of the iconic Ikogosi Warm Spring Resort. Mr. Lanre Balogun, General Manager of the Resort and Conference Centre, delivered a persuasive presentation, emphasizing Governor Oyebanji’s unwavering commitment to unlocking the full potential of this natural gem as a catalyst for tourism-driven economic growth.

Adding cultural flair to the event, the Ekiti State cultural troupe delivered a mesmerizing performance that enthralled delegates, further cementing the state’s strong presence on the continental stage.

Ekiti State gained immeasurable mileage from this event,” remarked Amb. Ojo-Lanre. “Governor Oyebanji’s name resonated with honor and respect throughout the tourism community, both nationally and internationally. We successfully communicated his bold tourism vision, positioning Ekiti for global recognition and investment.”

As further testament to the state’s growing influence, Amb. Ojo-Lanre was featured in exclusive interviews on NTA and TVC, amplifying the state’s tourism narrative to millions of viewers across Africa.
