Eight individuals accused of forcefully invading the national secretariat of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Abuja have been arraigned in court and remanded in three separate correctional centres.
The development was disclosed in a statement by Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, National Secretary of the SDP.
According to Aiyenigba, the group—which included seven men and one woman—allegedly broke into the SDP national headquarters on Monday, July 28, 2025, and stole administrative papers, payment vouchers, official stamps, bank books, and other sensitive documents.
The suspects were arraigned before magistrate courts in Karu and Kuje on Tuesday, July 29, and subsequently remanded in Keffi, Kuje, and Suleja correctional facilities.
Those charged and remanded include Ambo Ekpenyong, Humphrey Onwukaeze, Eluwa Ifeanyi Henry, Chief Solsuema Osaro, and Nurudeen Bissallah. Others are Dogara Abubakar, Adamu Abubakar Modibbo, and Judith Isreal Shuaibu.
The statement added that materials recovered from the suspects were presented in court by the police prosecution team as part of the evidence.
Efforts by Mallam Nasiru Ahmad El-Rufai to secure bail for the suspects were described as frantic, but unsuccessful.
The accused persons are currently awaiting trial as the case proceeds in court.
