The Abuja Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, December 11, 2025, arraigned the Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Dickson Akon, and the Corps’ Director of Finance, Omolola Aminat Ahmed, before Justice H.B. Yusuf of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja.

The duo was docked on a two-count charge bordering on alleged criminal misappropriation of funds allocated to the Corps.

In the first count, the EFCC alleged that Akon and Ahmed, in 2024, conspired in Abuja to commit criminal misappropriation—an offence punishable under Section 96 of the Penal Code laws of the FCT.

The second count accused the defendants of dishonestly converting N46 million out of N60 million earmarked for a contract for the supply of badges, using part of the funds for their personal benefit.

Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Following their pleas, prosecuting counsel Khalid Sanusi requested a date for commencement of trial.

Justice Yusuf thereafter adjourned the matter to February 25, 2026, and granted each defendant bail in the sum of N5 million, with one surety in like sum. The sureties must be reputable and resident within Abuja.
