DSS Dismisses 115 Personnel, Warns Public Against Impostors

As part of its internal reforms aimed at strengthening professionalism, discipline, and integrity within the agency, the Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the dismissal of 115 personnel from its ranks.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Service explained that the affected personnel were relieved of their duties over a period of time following a series of internal disciplinary processes. The dismissals, the DSS said, form part of a broader effort to sanitize the system and ensure that only individuals who embody the core values of loyalty, integrity, and accountability remain in service.
The statement also drew attention to the activities of some dismissed operatives who have continued to parade themselves as serving DSS officials, using the agency’s name to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” the statement read.
The DSS urged the public to exercise caution and desist from engaging in any form of official or unofficial dealings with the dismissed individuals or anyone claiming to represent the Service without proper identification and authorization.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high ethical standards, promoting accountability, and ensuring public trust through continuous reforms and internal oversight.
“The DSS remains committed to national security and will continue to enforce internal discipline to sustain its credibility and professional excellence,” the statement concluded.
