Doctor Explains Auxiliary’s Absence In Court, Says He Needs One Month To Recover

A medical doctor attached to the Agodi Custodial Centre of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Dr. Wasiu Adeyemi, on Wednesday explained why a former Chairman of the Park Management System (PMS) in Oyo State, Mukaila Lamidi, popularly known as Auxiliary, was absent from court on Tuesday.
Adeyemi gave the explanation while testifying before Justice Ladiran Akintola of Court 11, Oyo State High Court, Ibadan.
According to the doctor, Auxiliary was rushed out of court after complaining of dizziness.
“Auxiliary was taken out of court because he felt dizzy,” Adeyemi told the court.
It would be recalled that the trial judge had on Tuesday summoned the medical doctor to appear before the court to clarify the true state of Auxiliary’s health after he was taken out of court before his case, earlier adjourned for continuation of hearing on January 20 and 21, could be heard.
Auxiliary, who had earlier been present in court before proceedings were temporarily halted, was taken away by officers of the Nigerian Correctional Service after reportedly feeling unwell. Although he was later brought back to court, he was not docked.
Testifying further, Adeyemi informed the court that the former PMS chairman would require up to one month to fully recuperate.
Ruling on the matter, Justice Akintola adjourned the case until March 4 and 5 for continuation of hearing.
The prosecution team was led by the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions, O.S. Tella, alongside Senior State Counsel O.A. Bolarinwa and F.F. Gbadamosi.
Counsel to the defendant, Olalekan Ojo, SAN, was absent from court but was represented by another lawyer from his chambers.
