The Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has congratulated Muhammad Aminu Sani, an 18-year-old Nigerian who has made aviation history by earning a United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Commercial Multi-Engine Pilot Licence from Phoenix East Aviation (PEA) in Daytona Beach, Florida.

In a statement issued in Abuja, Dabiri-Erewa described Sani’s feat as a shining example of the brilliance, resilience, and determination of young Nigerians who continue to break barriers globally.

She noted that his success at such a young age demonstrates the limitless potential of Nigerian youths when provided with the right mentorship, opportunities, and support.

Sani reportedly completed the rigorous flight training programme in less than 12 months — an exceptional achievement made even more remarkable by the fact that he recorded no checkride failures, a rare distinction even among seasoned trainees.

“Becoming a pilot has always been my childhood dream, and today I’m proud to say I’m living that dream and enjoying every step of the journey,” Sani said. “I hope my story inspires others to chase their dreams with determination and never give up on what they believe.”

Born and raised in Abuja, Sani turned 18 last week. He completed his secondary education at Al-Hidaayah Academy and later graduated with distinction in Economics Foundation from The Regent College, Abuja, before proceeding to the United States for flight training.

At Phoenix East Aviation, one of the world’s top FAA Part 141 flight schools, he underwent extensive training in instrument navigation, night flying, and multi-engine operations, maintaining an impressive 97 percent average score in all FAA written examinations.

Dabiri-Erewa lauded Sani’s focus, discipline, and excellence, describing his success as “a source of national pride and a beacon of hope for millions of young Nigerians striving to make their mark globally.”

She encouraged the young aviator to continue on his path of excellence as he pursues his dream of joining a leading international airline, noting that he represents the best of Nigeria’s emerging generation of achievers.

The statement was signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Director of Media, Public Relations and Protocols, NiDCOM, on October 27, 2025.
