BREAKING: Tinubu Deploys 65 Envoys To Strengthen Nigeria’s Global Voice

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors -34 non-career and 31 career diplomats—to various countries and international missions across the world, a move aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement and advancing its national interests abroad.
The ambassadors-designate were earlier confirmed by the Nigerian Senate in December. Their deployment, according to the presidency, marks a renewed effort to deepen bilateral relations, promote economic diplomacy and reinforce Nigeria’s voice in global affairs.
The announcement was contained in a statement on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Non-Career Ambassadors and Their Missions
The newly approved postings for non-career envoys include Senator Grace Bent to Lome, Togo; Senator Ita Enang to South Africa; Victor Ikpeazu to Spain; Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu to Tel Aviv, Israel; Mahmood Yakubu to Qatar; Paul Oga Adikwu to the Vatican City (Holy See); Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas to the Philippines; and Reno Omokri to Mexico.
Others are Hon. (Engr.) Abasi Braimah to Budapest, Hungary; Mrs. Erelu Angela Adebayo to Portugal; Barrister Olumilua Oluwayimika Ayotunwa to Tokyo, Japan; Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Lawrence Ugwuanyi to Athens, Greece; Barrister Chioma Priscilla Ohakim to Warsaw, Poland; Aminu Dalhatu to the United Kingdom; and Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau to Beijing, China.
The list also includes Hon. Tasiu Musa Maigari to The Gambia; Olufemi Pedro to Australia; Barrister Muhammed Ubandoma Aliyu to Argentina; Lateef Kayode Are to the United States; Ambassador Joseph Sola Iji to Russia; Senator Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations; and Femi Fani-Kayode to Germany.
Further postings include Professor Isaac Folorunso Adewole to Ottawa, Canada; Fatima Florence Ajimobi to Austria; Mrs. Lola Akande to Sweden; Ayo Oke to France; Yakubu N. Gambo to Saudi Arabia; Senator Professor Nora Ladi Daduut to Seoul, South Korea; Barrister Onueze Chukwujika Joe Okocha to Dublin, Ireland; Dr. Kulu Haruna Abubakar to Tunis, Tunisia; and Rt. Hon. Jerry Samuel Manwe to Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.
Career Diplomats Assigned Across Key Missions
President Tinubu also approved the deployment of experienced career diplomats to strategic missions around the world.
They include Ambassador Nwabiola Ezenwa Chukwumeka to Côte d’Ivoire; Besto Maimuna Ibrahim to Niamey, Niger; Monica Okwuchukwu Enebechi to São Tomé and Príncipe; Ambassador Mohammed Mahmud Lele to Algiers, Algeria; Endoni Syndoph Paebi to Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso; and Ahmed Mohammed Monguno to Cairo, Egypt.
Other postings are Ambassador Jane Adams (née Okon) Michael to Kingston, Jamaica; Ambassador Clark-Omeru Alexandra to Lusaka, Zambia; Chima Geoffrey Lioma David to Bamako, Mali; Ambassador Odumah Yvonne Ehinosen to Malabo, Equatorial Guinea; Ambassador Wasa Segun Ige to Beirut, Lebanon; and Ruben Abimbola Samuel to Rome, Italy.
Also deployed are Ambassador Onaga Ogechukwu Kingsley to Maputo, Mozambique; Ambassador Magaji Umar to Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo; Ambassador Muhammad Saidu Dahiru to New Delhi, India; Ambassador Abdussalam Habu Zayyad to Dakar, Senegal; Ambassador Shehu Ilu Barde to Accra, Ghana; and Ambassador Aminu Nasir to Ethiopia.
Others include Abubakar Musa Musa to N’Djamena, Chad; Ambassador Haidara Mohammed Idris to The Hague, Netherlands; Ambassador Bako Adamu Umar to Rabat, Morocco; Ambassador Sulu Gambari Olatunji Ahmed to Malaysia; Ambassador Romata Mohammed Omobolanle to Tanzania; and Ambassador Shaga John Shamah to Botswana.
The remaining career diplomats are Salau Hamza Mohammed to Tehran, Iran; Ambassador Ibrahim Danlami to Kenya; Ibrahim Adeola Mopelola to Cotonou, Benin Republic; Ambassador Ayeni Adebayo Emmanuel to Brussels, Belgium; Ambassador Akande Wahab Adekola to Berne, Switzerland; Ambassador Esther Arewa (née Adedokun) to Windhoek, Namibia; Ambassador Gergadi Joseph John to Libreville, Gabon; Ambassador Luther Ogbomode Ayo-Kalata to Sierra Leone; Danladi Yakubu Nyaku to Khartoum, Sudan; and Bello Dogon-Daji Haliru to Bangkok, Thailand.
Diplomatic Clearances Underway
The presidency disclosed that some host countries have already granted diplomatic clearances, known as agréments. The United Kingdom has approved the appointment of Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu as Nigeria’s High Commissioner, while France has also granted agrément for Ambassador Ayo Oke.
The Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nigeria has formally communicated the nominations of the remaining envoys to their respective host countries and requested agréments in line with diplomatic protocol.
President Tinubu has also directed the ministry to immediately commence an induction programme for all ambassadors-designate to prepare them for their assignments.
The sweeping diplomatic deployment underscores Nigeria’s determination to deepen international partnerships, strengthen economic diplomacy and project its national interests more effectively across the global stage.
