Breaking: President Tinubu Gives Reasons For Extending Customs CG’s Tenure

President Bola Tinubu has extended the tenure of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, offering reasons why he did so.
The extension of Adeniyi’s tenure, which is due to expire on August 31, 2025, was made known in a statement issued to newsmen by the Presidency on Thursday.
According to the statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the tenure was extended by one year.
Onanuga quoted the President as having extended the tenure of the CG to enable him “consolidate ongoing reforms and complete critical initiatives of this administration”.
The reforms include the modernisation of the Nigeria Customs Service, implementation of the National Single Window Project, and execution of Nigeria’s obligations under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) protocol.
