BREAKING: #Ibadan2025 — Northern PDP Leaders Endorse Ex-Minister Tanimu Turaki As Consensus Candidate For National Chairman

In a major political development ahead of the 2025 PDP National Convention, Northern stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have endorsed former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, as their consensus candidate for the position of National Chairman.

The endorsement, which came after a series of high-level consultations, was sealed at the Northern PDP stakeholders’ meeting held in Abuja. The decision positions Turaki as the preferred aspirant ahead of the party’s elective convention slated for November 15–16 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Party insiders revealed that the meeting also reaffirmed the zoning of the chairmanship slot to the North-West, a move aimed at deepening internal balance, unity, and inclusivity within the PDP.

With Turaki’s emergence, Northern leaders say they have presented a “unified front” to strengthen the opposition party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections and reposition it as a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
