Baales, Residents Storm Court Premises, Protest Against Oyomesi Over Selection Of New Alaafin

In a bid to demand the restoration of the right of acceptable candidate to the throne of Alaafin of Oyo, some Baales and residents of Oyo town on Tuesday stormed the Federal High Court, Oyo that is hearing the suit filed by the Oyo kingmakers to restrain Governor Seyi Makinde of the state from thwarting the selection process of a new Alaafin.

The Oyo kingmakers, otherwise known as Oyomesi in Council, had dragged Governor Makinde, to court over the vacant stool.
The suit marked HOY/38/2023 before the Oyo State High Court has as claimants five kingmakers seeking a court injunction to restrain the Governor and his agents “from aborting the process for the selection of the candidate for filling the vacant stool of Alaafin of Oyo duly conducted by the Oyo kingmakers.
The kingmakers, who filed the suit are the Bashorun of Oyo, High Chief Yusuf Layinka; Lagunna of Oyo, High Chief Wakeel Oyedepo; Akinniku of Oyo, and High Chief Amusa Yusuf.
Some residents, who protested at the court premises were seen with different placards with various inscriptions.
