At least 20 persons have been killed in a deadly bomb attack Tuesday at the popular Sabon-Gari market along the Maiduguri-Damboa-Biu highway in Sabon Gari, Borno State.

Sabon Gari is about 80 miles from Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State.
The attack left at least 25 others with injuries, witnesses said.

Abdul Isa, a member of the community vigilante group in the area, said the bomb, which rocked the market in the afternoon, was concealed and dropped off in the middle of the market.

“Many people were killed in the Sabon Gari market bomb explosion. At least 20. Our men heard the loud explosion at about 1:35pm, when they got there people were scattered some beyond recognition,” he said.

Another member of the vigilante group, Yusuf Musa confirmed the attack. “I counted 20 dead bodies and our men assisted 25 injured persons to the hospital,” he said.
