Idris Aregbe, a chairmanship aspirant for Surulere Local Government Area, has condemned the killings of two youths and the widespread violence that marred last Saturday primaries.

He stressed that his political aspiration is not worth the deaths of anyone while assuring the “unwarranted and untimely deaths will not be in vain”.

Aregbe, in a release he issued on Sunday, condoled with the families of the deceased youths whom he described as patriots.

Moreover, the aspirant deplored the use of hired political thugs by Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of House of Representatives.

“The sad realities of yesterday shows clearly no election held in any part of Surulere. The peaceful residents of Surulere witnessed the orgies of violence and killings by Gbajabiamila’s political thugs, in their desperation to subvert the wishes of the people and scuttle democratic ppractice”.

“Equally, we witnessed with revulsion how Kabir Lawal, a former two-term state legislators kicked ballot boxes and disrupted the voting arrangements in Ward G 1. No sooner did Lawal carry out the premeditated attack than their hired thugs began to shoot sporadically. This led to pandemonium with innocent party members and residents scampering to safety, said Aregbe.

He described the described the actions as “barbaric, undemocratic and unacceptable”.

“Our people have demonstrated their opposition to the shenanigans and imposition of candidates.
