APC National Chairman Celebrates Chief Bisi Akande At 87

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has congratulated elder statesman and former National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, on his 87th birthday, describing him as a priceless asset to the party and a towering figure in Nigeria’s progressive political tradition.

In a statement issued on Friday, January 16, 2026, and signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Professor Yilwatda praised Chief Akande’s lifelong commitment to integrity, principled leadership, and democratic values, noting that his contributions were central to the formation, growth, and stability of the APC.

The APC chairman described Chief Akande as a symbol of courage and sacrifice whose political life reflects unwavering dedication to justice, federalism, internal party democracy, and good governance.

According to the statement, Professor Yilwatda said Chief Akande has continued to serve as a bridge between generations within the party, providing wisdom, calm counsel, and moral authority, particularly during periods of transition and challenge.

He further noted that beyond his role as a former party leader, Chief Akande has remained a father figure, teacher, and moral compass whose selfless service and principled advice have helped shape the direction and values of the APC from its formative years to its consolidation as a governing party.
