APC Dismisses Speculation Over 2027 Presidential Running Mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as false and baseless the growing media speculation suggesting a possible replacement of Vice President Kashim Shettima as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued in Abuja on Monday, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, CON, described the reports as “purely speculative, untrue and utterly unfounded,” noting that recent claims went as far as naming individuals allegedly being considered for the position.
Morka urged media organisations to refrain from amplifying rumours and relying on “mischievous news sources of questionable provenance” whose objective, he said, is to sow discord and confusion in the polity.
He further reminded the public that, in line with existing laws and electoral regulations, the ban on political activities remains in force. According to him, the party’s priority at this time is to support President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima in delivering the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, including the bold reforms already yielding positive results for the economy and the welfare of Nigerians.
The APC spokesperson also cautioned ministers, senior government officials and party leaders against actions or comments that could, directly or indirectly, fuel unnecessary speculation. He urged them instead to remain focused on diligent service to government and the party, while strengthening public confidence in the leadership and achievements of President Tinubu.
The party reaffirmed its unity and commitment to the success of the Tinubu–Shettima administration, describing the President as a visionary leader whose reforms are steadily transforming the nation.
