Akwa United beat Lobi Stars 2-1 at the Teslim Balogun Stadium on Sunday, to claim a historic first Federation Cup.
Nnamso Edo curled home a fantastic free-kick to open scoring for Akwa United shortly before the break. Abdulafeez Awakan doubled their advantage in the 69th, before Nanen Imenger pulled one back for the Benue club.
It was another disappointing outing in the competition for Lobi Stars, who have now lost in three finals.
They failed to win the oldest competition in Nigeria twice in the past. In 2005, they lost to Enyimba and failed to defeat Heartland in 2011.
