A former Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Moses Alake Adeyemo, has emerged as the new Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State.

Adeyemo was officially announced as the party’s chairman at the ongoing state congress holding at Liberty Stadium, Ibadan.

The announcement was made by Mr. Afeez Bolaji Repete, a former APC National Youth Leader and Secretary of the party’s adhoc zoning committee, under the supervision of the congress committee constituted by the party’s national leadership in Abuja.

The congress, which is still in progress, is reported to be peaceful.

Ahead of the exercise, stakeholders within the party had agreed on a zoning arrangement to guide the emergence of new executives.

According to a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, the decision followed extensive consultations among key leaders of the APC across the 33 local government areas of the state.

Sadare disclosed that an adhoc zoning committee was set up to allocate positions in the State Executive Committee among the various local government chapters.

The committee is chaired by Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle with Mr. Afeez Bolaji Repete serving as Secretary. Other members include Idris Adeoye, Adesoji Adedeji, Ajiboye Sangogade and Akeem Olatunji.

Adeyemo, an indigene of Igboho in Oorelope Local Government Area, served as Deputy Governor of Oyo State under the late former governor, Abiola Ajimobi, from 2011 to 2019.
