Afe Babalola Proffers Solutions To Insecurity In Nigeria

The Founder and Chancellor of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti, (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola (SAN) has suggested the adoption of 10 principles as solutions to the insecurity being experienced in Nigeria.

Aare Babalola made the principles known in his lecture delivered at the 15th anniversary and stakeholders forum of Radio Nigeria Amuludun FM, Moniya in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The title of the lecture is: “Insecurity: Threat to Nigeria’s Democracy: 2023 General Elections in view.”

The legal icon, represented by a lawyer from his Chamber, Barrister Chukwudi Maduka analysed the 10 principles ranging from true federalism, constitutional restructuring, making politics unattractive, introduction of 6 year single term for the office of President and Governors, reform of Electoral Body, clear ideology of political parties, population control among others as solutions to end insecurity in Nigeria.

Aare Afe Babalola commended the management of Radio Nigeria, Amuludun FM for organizing the event, stressing that he is committed to a peaceful, stable and secure Nigeria nation to end insecurity.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, the Chief Executive Officer of Foreign Links Insistitute, Dr. Fola Akinosun advocated introduction of regional government to enable Nigerians enjoy dividends of democracy, especially at the grassroots.

Dr. Akinosun, who agitated for the establishment of state police, said it would make it easy to reduce insecurity, banditry and all forms of criminal acts currently being experienced in the country

Earlier in his welcome address, the Zonal Director of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan, Mr Dominic Mokikan commended the efforts of the management of Amuludun FM for organising the programme at this crucial period.

Mr. Mokikan pledged his support for the station to enhance the promotion of indigenous language and culture at the grassroots.

The General Manager of Amuludun FM, Mr. Steve Agbaje expressed gratitude to God and all the guests for gracing the occasion, saying that the station would not rest on its oars to fulfill the motive of its establishment.

Highlights of the event included presentation of awards to dignitaries such as the Senatorial Candidate of Oyo Central of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Bisi Ilaka, the General Overseer of Power Apostolic Church International, Prophet Samuel Abiodun among others.
