AFCON Final Verdict: CAF Strips Senegal Of Title, Awards Morocco 3–0 Win

The Confederation of African Football Appeal Board has overturned the result of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Final, declaring that Senegal forfeited the match and awarding a 3–0 victory to Morocco.

In its ruling, CAF cited Article 84 of its regulations, stating that the Senegal National Football Team had breached provisions significant enough to warrant forfeiture. The decision means the Morocco National Football Team are officially recognised as winners of the final.

CAF did not immediately release detailed findings outlining the specific nature of the violation, leaving room for questions over what led to such a consequential decision.

The development has drawn strong reactions across the football community, with debate centring on transparency and the implications of overturning a continental final after it had been decided on the pitch.

For Morocco, the ruling secures the title through administrative action. For Senegal, it marks a reversal of what had been a celebrated result, now replaced by an official forfeiture.
