The activities of AERO Contractors have been put to hold as workers are barred from entering into the company by management.

The management of AERO Contractor claimed the company has redundant personnel and have asked workers not to report to their job until an adequade solution is found.

Workers of Aero contractors were seen outside company offices visibly angry against the decision of the company stopping them from discharging their activities.

One employee lamented the poor state of the company and placed the blame on the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) who took over the company in 2011 effectively making them both a shareholder and creditor since they invested and own about 60% of the company. He revealed that AMCON took over the board of AERO and appointed a new C.E.O. who is incapable of turning situations around.

He said, “AMCON claimed to have spent about 14 billion investment in AERO but one cannot point to the meaningful investment that was done.”

He added, “A new CEO was appointed who couldn’t improve the situation on ground. While owing us for three months, he called for a town hall meeting where he told us to go on an indefinite leave without proper communication as to when salary will be paid. There was a time the policemen locked some workers in the company for three days until the Aviation minister came around an ordered the gate to be opened.”

He further lamented the activities of AMCON since the taking over of the company some of which includes buying of faulty aircrafts, hijacking funds, and spending the company’s money on unprofitable deals contributing to the crisis the company is facing presently.

Aero workers have complained to the Executive Director of AMCON, Kola Ayeye, who assured them he would find a lasting solution to the matter.
