Senator Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, is set to join the Accord Party (A) next week as the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepens.

Amid the turmoil, Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola on Tuesday emerged as the PDP governorship candidate for the 2026 election in Osun State.

Out of 990 delegates expected for the primary, 957 were accredited for the exercise held at Adolak Event Centre in Osogbo under tight security.

Chairman of the PDP Primary Committee, Humphery Abba, revealed before voting commenced that the party had received two nominations — Governor Ademola Adeleke and Adebayo Olugbenga Adedamola.

However, he disclosed that Adeleke pulled out of the race just hours before the primary, following his decision to dump the PDP.

Officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) monitored the exercise.

At the conclusion of voting, Abba declared Adedamola the winner, noting that the process recorded 20 void votes.

He announced: “We told you earlier that one of the aspirants withdrew. The candidate who got the remaining votes is Adebayo Adedamola with 919 votes and stands elected and returned.”
