The Lagos State Police Command on Tuesday night confirmed that Pastor Paul Adefarasin who was interrogated for several hours over allegations of unlawful possession of firearm has been granted bail.
The police also dismissed claims that the pastor held a pistol, which he threatened another road user with in a viral video.
Police spokesman, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin gave the confirmation in a post on the command’s official X account around 10:30pm.
Giving an update on the interrogation, Hundeyin said that Adefarasin was granted bail, adding that he turned in the object he was holding in the viral video.
“What was recovered from him, the gun-like object seen in the viral video, is not a lethal weapon or firearm but a stun gun which is a prohibited anti-riot equipment.
“The pastor has been granted bail while investigations continue into the case,” said Hundeyin.
The pastor had around 11:30am submitted himself to the police for questioning following an invitation extended to him on the issue.
He was alleged to have driven an unlicenced vehicle and also threatened another road user with a gun-like object, a development that generated public outcry.
Adefarasin however dismissed the allegations against him during a church service last Sunday, insisting he neither held a gun nor threatened anyone with a gun.
