Accord Party Clears Governor Adeleke As Sole Aspirant For Osun 2026 Governorship Primary

The screening committee of Accord Party has officially cleared Governor Ademola Adeleke to contest in the party’s 2026 governorship primary, slated to be held in Osogbo. The committee chair, along with other officials, awarded Adeleke a certificate of clearance, describing him as a “worthy gubernatorial aspirant.”
The clearance follows Adeleke’s recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to Accord, as he seeks re?election under a new political platform. His defection comes amid a protracted national leadership crisis within PDP, which disrupted the scheduling and conduct of the party’s primaries in Osun State.
With Adeleke as the sole cleared aspirant for Accord Party, the party appears to be positioning him as its flagbearer for the August 2026 Osun governorship election. The move underscores a shift in Osun’s political alignments ahead of the off cycle election, highlighting how turbulence at the national level within PDP is reshaping state level dynamics.
