In a move to galvanize grassroots support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign in Ondo State, the State APC Elders Movement for Tinubu held a pivotal meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Union of Tailors (NUT) in Akure on Tuesday.

Led by Otunba Agboola Kelly, Coordinator of the APC Elders Movement, the delegation engaged NUT leaders in a heartfelt dialogue centered on economic empowerment and political collaboration.

Known for his deep ties to Ondo’s communities, Kelly lauded the tailors’ essential role in the state’s economy.

“Your needles and threads stitch more than garments; they weave the dreams of our people,” he declared.

“We are here to partner with you to amplify your voices and champion Tinubu’s transformative leadership in 2027″

Held in Akure, the state capital, the meeting saw Mr Sola Adekunle, the NUT’s Ondo State Chairman, welcome the APC elders.

He outlined the challenges tailors face, including rising material costs, limited access to modern tools, and the need for government-backed initiatives to bolster small businesses.

“We are eager to work with those who value our craft and prioritize our welfare,” he said, expressing optimism about Tinubu’s policies to uplift local artisans.

Otunba Kelly presented a compelling plan to empower the tailoring industry, including advocacy for affordable microfinance loans, training programs to introduce advanced sewing techniques, and policies to protect local tailors from cheap imported textiles.

“President Tinubu envisions a Nigeria where artisans like you thrive,” Kelly affirmed.

“We are committed to making Ondo a hub for empowered tailors who will rally behind his leadership.”

He further emphasized the commitment of the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, an illustrious son of Ondo, who is dedicated to improving the lives of everyone around him.

“Dr. Tunji-Ojo is fully committed to this group and will ensure that what rightfully belongs to us reaches us”

Both sides pledged to sustain this partnership, with the NUT vowing to mobilize its members across Ondo’s 18 local government areas to support Tinubu’s re-election.
