Chief Justice Kekere-Ekun To Chair NWLR 40th Anniversary Lecture As Fashola Delivers Keynote On Law Reporting In The Digital Age

The Nigerian Weekly Law Reports (NWLR), Nigeria’s most authoritative and consistent law reports, will on Thursday, October 9, 2025, in Lagos, celebrate its 40th Anniversary Lecture with the theme: “Safeguarding the Legacy of Law Reporting and Embracing the Future in the Technological Era.”
The historic lecture will be chaired by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Kudirat Motonmori Olatokunbo Kekere-Ekun, GCON, while the keynote address will be delivered by Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, CON, former Governor of Lagos State and former Minister of Works and Housing.
Established on October 1, 1985 by the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAM, SAN, GCON, the NWLR has, for four decades, stood as the bedrock of Nigerian jurisprudence, providing comprehensive, reliable, and authoritative reports of appellate court decisions. The publication has become indispensable to the Bench, the Bar, scholars, and students of law.
In 2019, the NWLR took a bold step into the digital future with the launch of NWLRONLINE, its electronic version, offering seamless access to its vast archive of reported judgments. This innovation underscored the publication’s continuing relevance in an era of rapid technological transformation.
The 40th Anniversary Lecture will not only celebrate Chief Gani Fawehinmi’s enduring vision but will also provide a forum to examine how law reporting can be preserved as a cornerstone of justice while adapting to the demands of the digital age.
Dignitaries from the judiciary, legal profession, government, academia, and civil society are expected to attend what has been described as a landmark gathering in Nigeria’s legal calendar.
