Lagos APC Blasts Atiku Over Comment on Tinubu’s Plateau Visit, Calls Him ‘Serial Election Loser’

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has slammed former Vice President Atiku Abubakar over his criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s visit to Plateau State, describing the comment as “mischievous and hypocritical.”
Atiku had accused President Tinubu of “making merry” in Plateau while Nigerians were facing hardship and insecurity — a statement the Lagos APC said was an attempt to twist facts and score cheap political points.
In a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesman, Hon. Seye Oladejo, the Lagos APC said the president’s visit to Plateau was an act of compassion and solidarity, not celebration.
“President Tinubu’s visit to Plateau State was a show of compassion and solidarity — a mark of respect to a distinguished Nigerian family in grief and a reaffirmation of our shared humanity,” Oladejo stated. “Only a man blinded by bitterness and political envy would seek to twist such a solemn event for cheap propaganda.”
The party described Atiku’s comments as “poor judgment and moral bankruptcy,” accusing him of presiding over a government that “laid the foundation for today’s security challenges by institutionalising corruption, destroying the economy, and undermining the capacity of our armed forces.”
According to the statement, President Tinubu has taken “proactive steps to strengthen security institutions, prioritise intelligence-driven operations, and enhance collaboration between the military and other security agencies,” which, it said, have led to visible improvements in security across the country.
Oladejo added that Atiku’s frequent criticisms of the government were driven by frustration after “serial electoral defeats.”
“Atiku’s rapid and consistent descent into a political laughing stock is pitiable. His handlers will do well to salvage whatever remains of his reputation before it completely evaporates,” the statement read.
The APC spokesman further advised the former vice president to “enjoy his forced retirement from politics” and stop attacking a government focused on rebuilding the nation.
“President Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare and security of Nigerians is total and unshakable,” Oladejo concluded. “No amount of reckless politicking or bad-faith commentary from yesterday’s men can diminish that fact.”
