Ex-NNPCL Boss Mele Kyari Faces EFCC Interrogation in Abuja

Former Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari, is currently being grilled by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.
Kyari, who had been on the agency’s watchlist, arrived at the EFCC headquarters around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
According to insiders, the former oil boss is expected to answer tough questions over multi-billion-naira funds allocated for refinery maintenance during his tenure.
“Yes, he’s in our office. He will be ushered into where he will face interrogation by crack detectives of the commission,” a senior EFCC official confirmed.
It will be recalled that the Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier ordered the freezing of all bank accounts linked to Kyari, following an application by the anti-graft agency.
