Journalists under the platform of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo State council have appealed to the state police command to fish out and prosecute killers of one of their members, Ojo Peter.
The union made this declaration via a statement signed by its acting Chairman, Olusola Oladapo.
Peter, a former reporter with Parrot Extra and Daily Monitor, was shot during a daylight robbery along Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan on August 18, 2025
Our correspondent reports that this has raised a lot of questions and has been a source of worry to journalists in the state.
Oladapo, in the statement, tasked the police to unravel the circumstances that led to the death of the deceased.
The acting Chairman demanded a thorough investigation into the killing of the journalist.
The statement said, “The union is saddened by the news of Ojo Peter’s recent killing in Ibadan by suspected armed robbers.
“The attack occurred along Molete-Oke Ado axis of Ibadan, Oyo State on August 18, 2025, around 2 p.m.
“Sources said Ojo Peter was robbed of his cross bag despite pleading to the robbers that the bag contained no money, and he was still shot in the back.
“We urge the state police command to fish out the killers of the deceased journalist.”
