Nigeria Police Elevates Adejobi, Deploys Him To Strategic Delta Post

The Nigeria Police Force has promoted its outgoing spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and redeployed him to Delta State as Deputy Commissioner in charge of Operations.

Adejobi, who became a familiar national figure as Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), was decorated with his new rank after the Police Service Commission ratified his elevation. His redeployment to Delta—widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most strategic and sensitive commands—is being seen as a deliberate move to reinforce security in the region.

The announcement also puts to rest speculations that Adejobi was controversially removed from his PRO role. Police authorities stressed that the posting was neither punitive nor political but part of routine career progression and administrative restructuring within the Force.

According to senior police sources, Adejobi’s background in public communication, operational leadership, and community policing uniquely positions him for the task ahead. As DCP Operations in Delta, he will oversee the state’s security framework, combat violent crimes, and strengthen collaboration between the police and local communities.

The development underscores the Police Force’s commitment to merit-driven promotions and the strategic deployment of its most experienced officers to commands where their expertise is most needed.
