NNPCL Boss Raises Alarm Over Threats To Life Amid Push For Refinery Reforms

Bayo Ojulari, the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), has expressed grave concerns about threats to his life and the safety of members of his management team.

Ojulari, who emphasized that he is not a politician, made the remarks on Thursday at the NNPCL headquarters in Abuja during a meeting with a delegation of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), led by its President, Festus Osifo.

“I’m not hiding from anybody. I’m not a politician. I will have to learn a bit more about politics, but for me, it is a development plan, and I’m ready to learn,” he said.

The NNPCL boss disclosed that his “offense” was implementing reforms in the oil and gas industry, in line with President Bola Tinubu’s directive to revive Nigeria’s ailing refineries. He alleged that some powerful interests were plotting to oust him in response to the reforms.

Despite what he described as attempts to intimidate him, Ojulari vowed to stay focused on delivering the refinery rehabilitation plan successfully.
