MILITARY REPELS TERROR ATTACKS, KILLS DOZENS IN BORNO, YOBE OPERATIONS

In what has been described as one of the most decisive pushes in recent months, troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralised dozens of Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters in a string of coordinated offensives across Borno and Yobe States.

The series of operations, carried out between 22 and 23 August 2025, underscored the military’s resolve to maintain relentless pressure on insurgents threatening communities in Nigeria’s North East.

At Kumshe in Borno State, troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade repelled a daring night attack on their Forward Operating Base. Backed by Nigerian Air Force surveillance and precision bombardments, the soldiers overwhelmed the attackers, leaving more than 20 terrorists dead. Exploitation of the area revealed corpses hastily buried in shallow graves alongside recovered weapons.

On the same day, troops of Sector 1 engaged terrorists at Dipchari, near Banki Junction in Bama Local Government Area. Following a firefight, several insurgents were killed, while troops recovered a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) tube, two AK-47 rifles, two magazines, 16 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and two motorcycles.

In Yobe State, Sector 2 troops, operating jointly with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), launched a long-range tactical assault around the Ndoksa general area near Buni Gari on 23 August. The raid resulted in the neutralisation of more fighters and the recovery of one AK-47 rifle and two motorcycles.

Military sources say the latest string of operations has not only degraded terrorist firepower but also disrupted logistics and denied them freedom of movement.

The Defence Headquarters, in a statement, commended the gallantry of troops and urged them to sustain the tempo of offensives.

“These coordinated strikes represent another victory in the ongoing effort to restore peace and stability across the North East,” the statement said.
