Tragedy At LAUTECH: Final-Year Student Shot Dead During Sign-Out Celebration

A moment meant for joy and celebration turned tragic at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomosho, as a final-year student, Babalola Marvelous Ishola, lost his life in a fatal shooting during a sign-out party.

According to the Oyo State Police Command, Babalola’s lifeless body was discovered by the roadside around 5:38 p.m. on Wednesday, following a distress call reporting an unattended male corpse. Security operatives swiftly arrived at the scene and confirmed the identity of the deceased through a search of his belongings.

The Dean of Student Affairs at LAUTECH has since confirmed that Babalola was indeed a bonafide student of the institution. His remains have been transferred to the morgue at LAUTECH University Teaching Hospital for further examination and preservation.

In response to the tragic event, the police launched a sting operation that led to the arrest of sixteen individuals suspected to be connected to the incident. The Oyo State Police Command has assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the killing.

The untimely death of Babalola has cast a pall over what should have been a milestone of achievement for LAUTECH’s graduating students. Friends, family, and members of the university community are left mourning a young life cut short in its prime.
