The Lagos State Police Command has arraigned a suspected notorious assassin, Wasiu Akinwande, popularly known as Olori Eso, before the Ogba Magistrate Court on 11 counts, including murder, unlawful possession of firearms, and conspiracy to commit felony.

The Command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development in a statement on Tuesday, August 5.

Akinwande, 44, has long been on the police radar and was described as one of the most wanted and dangerous hired killers in Lagos State. He was apprehended during a high-risk operation code-named Silence, Speed, and Surprise, executed by the Command’s Tactical Squad at his hideout in the Agbado area of neighbouring Ogun State.

The suspect, believed to be responsible for a wave of violent crimes in Mushin and surrounding areas, had reportedly evaded multiple arrest attempts before being finally captured across state lines.

During the raid, police operatives recovered a cache of arms and other incriminating items from his residence. Authorities say the weapons had been used in several killings linked to Akinwande and his gang. The suspect is said to have confessed to using the weapons for various deadly operations.

Confirming the arraignment via his official handle on X (formerly Twitter), Hundeyin wrote: “Wasiu Akinwande aka Olori Eso is currently being arraigned at the Ogba Magistrate Court on an eleven-count charge.”
