Tragedy Strikes Babcock University As Fresh Graduate Dies Mysteriously In Hostel

Authorities in Ogun State have launched a full investigation following the sudden death of Akawa Boluwatife Samuel, a 20-year-old recent graduate of Information Technology from Babcock University, Ilisan-Remo.
According to campus security sources, Boluwatife was discovered unresponsive in his hostel room by his roommates on the morning of Wednesday, July 30, 2025. He was immediately rushed to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival.
Police detectives from the Ogun State Command, who visited the scene, revealed that one of the roommates, Adili Leonard Chimdindu, disclosed that the deceased had complained of feeling unusually cold and having difficulty breathing on July 27. He was reportedly advised to seek medical attention at the university’s health centre.
Chimdindu noted that Boluwatife had been in high spirits the night before his death, spending time playing games on his laptop until around 11:00 p.m. His sudden deterioration and death came as a shock to friends and family.
The young graduate had reportedly stayed back on campus to finalize his clearance process, with plans to return home in the coming days.
Police also took photographs of the body and recorded the statement of his elder brother, Akawa Toluwanimi John.
The remains of the deceased have been deposited in the university morgue pending an autopsy, as investigations continue to determine the exact cause of death.
