Former Lagos Lawmaker, Hon. Victor Akande, Passes Away

Former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Victor Akande, has died. His death was reported by The Gazelle News.
Akande, a legal practitioner and two-term lawmaker, passed away on Wednesday, 30 July 2025, reportedly due to complications from an auto accident he was involved in last week in Ojo.
He represented Ojo State Constituency I in the Lagos Assembly between 2015 and 2023, serving in both the 8th and 9th Assemblies.
Akande was first elected in 2015 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He later defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), on which platform he secured re-election in 2019.
During his time in the Assembly, he served as Chairman of the House Committee on Justice, Human Rights, Public Petitions, and the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC).
His bid for a third term ended in 2022 when he lost the APC ticket to the current representative of the constituency, Honourable Olusegun Ege.
