The Emir of Gusau, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, has passed away.
The monarch died in Abuja on Friday morning after battling a prolonged illness. He was 71 years old.
A statement issued Friday by Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal, through his spokesperson Sulaiman Idris Bala, expressed condolences to the people of the state over the monarch’s passing.
Governor Lawal described the Emir’s death as a personal loss, highlighting his role as a supportive traditional ruler and a committed leader who worked tirelessly for the progress of Zamfara State.
“I received with deep sadness the news of the passing of our father, His Royal Highness, Dr. Ibrahim Bello, the Emir of Gusau.”
“I express my heartfelt condolences to the Zamfara State Council of Chiefs, the immediate and extended families of the late Emir, the Gusau emirate, and the entire people of Zamfara State.
“His Highness’s passing is a huge loss not only for Zamfara but for the North and Nigeria as a whole.
“He served for 10 years as the 15th Emir of Gusau, having ascended the throne on March 16, 2015. His reign was marked by unwavering dedication, deep faith, and service to the people.
“Before his ascension, he was a distinguished civil servant who rose to the rank of Permanent Secretary in the old Sokoto and Zamfara States.
“I have lost a confidant and a father whose wisdom was a guiding light for me and other leaders. May Almighty Allah (T) forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannah,” Governor Lawal said.
