Pastor With RCCG Flees With $8,000 Church Funds, Abandons Wife, Marries Another Woman

A pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has reportedly fled with $8,000 intended for church mission work, abandoned his wife, and married another woman in the United States.

This was revealed by Pastor Folu Adeboye, wife of the RCCG General Overseer, during a men’s programme, according to a video monitored by Church Times.

Pastor Adeboye narrated the incident during a visit to Cape Town, South Africa, where she preached at an RCCG parish overseen by the pastor in question. The service was held in a rented space within a restaurant.

Midway through her sermon, a woman entered the venue and began removing chairs—signaling that the church had run out of time. Curious, Pastor Adeboye asked what it would cost to help the church acquire a permanent location.

The pastor, who she said hails from Ekiti State, estimated that $8,000 would allow the parish to purchase a used vehicle. His plan, he explained, was to lease the vehicle to a tourism company to generate income for the church’s building project.

Encouraged by the vision, Pastor Adeboye provided him with the funds. However, instead of executing the plan, the pastor absconded with the money to the United States, abandoning his wife in South Africa. He later remarried there.

Pastor Adeboye lamented that the abandoned wife has since been left in a state of mental distress. “She’s almost running mad,” she said.

Addressing the broader issue, she challenged RCCG men and leaders:

“RCCG men, what are we going to do? Are we going to continue with such a lying spirit, a deceitful spirit to the God of the kingdom?”

She called for a return to the core values of faith, sacrifice, and integrity, recalling the church’s earlier years of hardship and dedication:

“We must get to the point where we say, ‘Wherever He leads, we follow.’ We were in this bush. For three years, there was no light. We went back to the days of lanterns and grinding stones, even though where we came from, we had washing machines and grinders.”

The RCCG has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
