Nupe Woman Leads Operations To Flush Out Bandits From Villages
A coordinated offensive is underway to dislodge bandits and kidnappers terrorizing parts of Edu and Patigi Local Government Areas of Kwara State, particularly communities recently plagued by rising insecurity.
Sources told NationalWatch TV that a courageous Nupe woman is spearheading the grassroots-led clearance operation, working closely with security operatives to reclaim occupied forests and farmlands.
In recent weeks, communities such as Ndeji, Gbugbu, Lafiagi (in Edu LGA), and Lata Nna (in Patigi LGA) have suffered repeated attacks by armed criminals.
Notably, two abductees from Ndeji — petrol dealer Abass Daniyan and his manager Abubakar Issa — were released after a N100 million ransom was reportedly paid to secure their freedom.
Meanwhile, a popular chemical dealer, simply known as Alhaji Chemical, remains in captivity after being kidnapped in Lafiagi.
“This is now fire for fire. The communities have declared that enough is enough,” one source familiar with the operations said. “Progress is being recorded across various sectors as efforts to reclaim the forests intensify.”
Attempts to reach relevant security agencies in Ilorin for comment on Friday were unsuccessful.
