Senator Abdul-Aziz Abubakar Yari has assured Nigerians that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will take decisive action against those responsible for the recent killings in Yelewata, Benue State.

Yari, who represents Zamfara West and chairs the Senate Committee on Water Resources, made the statement on Wednesday while condemning the attack, which he described as a “gruesome murder of the innocent and harmless.”

He said the President is not known for making empty threats and expressed confidence that security agencies, under Tinubu’s directive, will apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

“The criminals will be apprehended sooner than we all can imagine,” Yari said. “The president doesn’t issue empty threats. He meant what he said, and they will not get away with this.”

Yari commended President Tinubu for personally visiting Benue in the aftermath of the attack, describing the gesture as a sign of responsible leadership.

“He could have delegated the visit, but he chose to be there in person,” Yari said. “That shows the empathy and seriousness with which he views the situation.”

The former Zamfara governor also called for a “whole-of-society” approach to tackling insecurity in Nigeria, urging citizens to support security agencies with timely information.

“We all must become intelligence officers in our own communities. Security is everyone’s responsibility,” he said.

Yari extended his condolences to the government and people of Benue State, as well as families of the victims, and prayed for the recovery of those injured.

The attack in Yelewata is one of a series of violent incidents that have affected communities in Benue State, prompting renewed calls for urgent and coordinated security action.
