The Pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, has appointed former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and traditional ruler of Ilu-Abo in Akure North, Oba Olu Falae, as Chairman of its National Executive Committee.

The decision was announced following the group’s monthly meeting held at the Akure residence of its National Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.

In a press briefing, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Jare Ajayi, explained that the appointment was made by Pa Fasoranti to reposition and strengthen the group.

“Oba Falae’s appointment is intended to reinvigorate Afenifere and ensure the House of Oduduwa is firmly back on track to project the Yoruba mandate,” Ajayi said.

He emphasized that the organization remains committed to advocating for the restructuring of Nigeria, describing it as the most viable solution to the country’s ongoing security and socio-economic challenges.

“We are calling on the Federal Government under President Bola Tinubu, as well as the National Assembly, to urgently initiate the process of restructuring the country,” he added.

Responding to his appointment, Oba Falae expressed gratitude to Pa Fasoranti and pledged to foster unity within the organization.

“By God’s grace and with the support of Afenifere and the Yoruba people, we will succeed in reuniting all factions of the group. I am determined to achieve this in Pa Fasoranti’s lifetime,” he stated.

Apagun Kole Omololu, the group’s National Organizing Secretary, also voiced confidence in Falae’s leadership, assuring that his tenure would bring much-needed reconciliation and cohesion to Afenifere.
